I first heard about Nicholas Perricone on a Vh1 special about celebrity diets. According to the show, one of the reasons that J.Lo and Kim Cattrall have such radiant
skin is because they follow Perricone's diet, which emphasizes lots and lots of wild Alaskan salmon and fruits and veggies
high in antioxidants. Perricone claims that the typical Western diet creates a state of perpetual inflamation in the body
and this inflamation causes accelerated aging and acne. He recommends a three-step program comprising of diet, nutritional
supplements and topical creams.
The Inflamation Connection
Inflamation is the body's natural response to injury and is characterized by redness and swelling. Chronic inflamation
has been linked to psoriasis and cancer (1), heart disease and stroke (2), arthritis and other degenerative diseases. (3).
Dr. Perricone claims that it also causes aging and acne.
